WIA Logo Usage Rights
A trademark can be lost or have its value reduced by improper use or disuse. Proper usage, by members in good standing, is imperative for the preservation of this valuable asset. For this reason, the WIA permits only full paperhanger and associate members in good standing to use the logo. This trademark may not be used in conjunction with any promotion, directly or indirectly, any religion or religious belief, event or celebration, political affiliation, race or sex orientation or gender; nor shall the logo be used to defame or denigrate any trade custom, ethnic group or to glorify or extol any of the foregoing. The logo may not be used in advertising or promotions which violate the WIA Code of Ethics or any statute, law or municipal rule or regulation. The trademark may only be used by an association member. If membership is terminated, for any reason, further use of the trademark or logo is automatically terminated, and the individual or company whose membership has been terminated is obligated to cancel all advertisements and to destroy all promotional materials displaying such trademark or logo.
How Dues Can Be Deducted
Membership dues are deductible as ordinary and necessary business expenses; however, pursuant to the Omnibus Reconciliation Act of 1993, dues are not deductible for federal income tax purposes.
